This painting is a 2ft by 2ft wood panel, finished with acrylic paint, stain and varnish. It is part of a series of shrines to women that I exhibited in 2012. It features a female partial nude, basking amid stylized flowers in shades of coral. The style and colors are inspired by my interpretation of 1940's "Shabby Chic."

Rachel Jernigan

I make very simple, acrylic paintings on wood. They incorporate colors and patterns that are nostalgic for me. I hope to provide affordable, attractive art to art enthusiasts as well as the general population. I believe art should be accessible to all, and appreciated by all. I studied ceramics and painting at Kent State University. I work from my home studio in Kent.
