Nicole Schneider

In my prints, I explore formal relationships among geometric forms, line, and color that evoke certain states of mind or ranges of human emotion. I achieve this by creating tension and yet balance between oppositional elements within the compositions. The subtle tonal shifts, transparent veils of layered ink, and accumulation of residual marks inherent in the printmaking process offer the viewer a quiet space in which to contemplate the relationships between these marks, and how these relationships may extend beyond the work itself into the world around them.
